The Bürgerlich Freiheitlicher Aufbruch e.V. (BFA) is a German grassroots citizens’ movement, political pressure group and “do-tank”. The members-based initiative was founded in 2022 to help conservatives and freedom-loving people in Germany overcome fragmentation and political isolation. The initial goal was to help build a new right-wing political party in the country, which was achieved in 2023/24. The BFA’s basic analysis is that traditional conservative initiatives have been ruined by a mainstream and risk-averse managerial class, who avoid addressing citizens’ concerns due to their institutional and personal interdependence with the failing political status-quo.
The BFA seeks active members for its formats and campaigns. We also welcome financial donations, which contribute a 100% to our mission. All BFA representatives currently devote their personal time to this initiative and act in a voluntary capacity.

Dear fellow citizens,
After more than 70 years of democracy in West Germany and more than 30 years after the German reunification and the demise of the communist regime in the East, the very forces that were supposed to guard our constitutional foundations of a division of powers in our country have done an excellent job of undermining our constitution (Grundgesetz) to their own advantage.
A political, party and media system has emerged in Germany in the last ten years that fosters a deep mutual interdependence primarily for its own sake of survival and rent-seeking. Instead of humility and a sense of public service, ideological paternalism, arrogance and – first and foremost – structures to safeguard one’s own personal benefits dominate. Political parties are characterised by negative internal selection, opportunism and unscrupulous cronyism. People who during their entire life have never contributed a single euro to tax income based on laborious work in the private sector today claim the best remunerated positions solely on the basis of their party career.
You are probably one of those citizens who do not want to accept this development, otherwise you would not be visiting this website. We have all analysed the status quo in our country and recognise the need for action. It does not help us or the citizens of our country to mourn the past. If we want change, we have to take action ourselves.
With the BFA, we founded an association that scrutinises past strategies, their successes and failures and draws the appropriate lessons from them. We have identified initiatives, small political parties, organisations and well-known personalities in public life, with whom we want to work together. We have defined initial campaign milestones and are more determined than ever to work in new alliances on perspectives that will once again offer our citizens, families, neighbours, friends and colleagues a credible, honest and competent representation of their political interests.
We have been granted a German non-profit status. We engage in education of our fellow citizens about topics of common interest. In 2024, the majority of our formats dealt with the issues of our failing energy system in Germany, the bad consequences of the escalating European migration crisis, and the paternalistic and increasingly anti-freedom nanny state. Among others, we organise a monthly roundtable and public symposiums. We publish articles based on our members’ expertise. We organise campaigns to raise awareness for our topics and positions.
We are taking our fate into our own hands, because nothing less than our freedom and our way of life is at stake. You all know the phrase: “Politics is a dirty business.” Why should we continue to put up with it? Let’s tackle it, let’s clean it up. We have every right to do so and the time is now!
